"JESUS WOULDN’T DISCRIMINATE"

Billboards carrying the above message or some derivative of it have been put up in our city. The idea is presented by those involved in the gay movement. Jesus is presented as being a loving Savior, which He is, and included is the idea that He condones whatever sin man desires to commit, which is not true. We have faced the same mentality in the religious world for a long time. On one hand we are presented with the love of Jesus. This kind of “love” allows us to accept all religious groups claiming to believe in Jesus. If Jesus accepts every religion out there claiming to follow Him, then truly He does not discriminate.

A sweet an idea as that is, it has one basic flaw. It is not true. The Pharisees accused Jesus of transgressing the tradition of the elders (Matthew 15:2). Jesus then accused the Pharisees of transgressing the commandment of God (verse 3). Who do you think was right? To ask is to answer the question. Jesus was right in accusing these men of going beyond what God had revealed. I wonder should we dare read verse seven of the chapter? Jesus calls them “hypocrites”. Does this sound to you like Jesus would not discriminate?

Some seven times in Matthew 23, Jesus calls them hypocrites. By the time we come to verse 33, He calls them snakes and vipers. Why would a loving Jesus refer to religious men as snakes and vipers? I mean does He not love everybody? What we call the golden text of the Scriptures states that God so loved us all (John 3:16). What people have a hard time dealing with is that yes God loves everyone but never condones the evil in any person’s life. The call of the gospel is always to leave sin and wrongdoing and come to the truth. When one comes to the truth in obedience he ceases to sin (Romans 6:11).

What about those who stand in pulpits every Sunday in the denominational world and offer a false Christ through their man made doctrine? Going back to the case in Matthew 15, the apostles were concerned because they did not think Jesus knew how offended the Pharisees were when He told them that they teach for doctrines, the commandments of men (Matthew 15:9-12). Jesus replied that every plant that the Father hath not planted would be rooted up (verse 13). Any church today that claims to follow the Lord then must know that they are a planting of the Lord. When you look at the doctrines taught by the churches of men it is evident that said churches are not “plantings of the Lord”.

If you teach faith only and such is not in the Scriptures, how are you a planting of the Lord? If you teach a man cannot be saved until the Holy Spirit does something in a supernatural way and such is not in the Scriptures, how are you a planting of the Lord? If you teach that babies are to be baptized and such is not in the Scriptures, how are you a planting of the Lord? At this point someone may say, it does not matter because Jesus loves everyone. I never question the love of Jesus neither do I question the fact that those who teach the doctrines of men are not churches of the Lord. If they are not, then those in said institutions are not safe.

What does all this have to do with the current gay movement in our country? Jesus said that men would be judged by His words (John 12:48). We know that everything Jesus said was not recorded but what was recorded was to bring about faith in Jesus as the Son of God (John 20:30,31). The Words then that we have in the Scriptures are a result of what the Holy Spirit “heard” and then conveyed to man through the apostles (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit condemned the homosexual life style in I Corinthians 6:9. Where did the Spirit of God get that truth to give to Paul to write down? According to John 16:13, the Spirit of God got it from Jesus. Why break the chain? Jesus to the Holy Spirit to the apostles condemned this kind of life style.

The reality is any sin that is a violation of the will of God must be put off with a desire and determination to live a righteous life. It does not matter what a billboard says because I will not be judged by such. I will be judged by the Words of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. He is the author of salvation to all who OBEY HIM. (Hebrews 5:9)
